Lyrics: Song One (You’re Far Gone)

You’re Far Gone

Oh I had many hopes
But God, I know now
That you’re far gone
Oh not from me, oh no
I’ve never had you anyway
But from yourself
Of the old days…

Am I sad? I suppose so
But it’s almost like I already knew
Since there’ve been so many clues
That you are
Far gone!

But somehow it feels like a relief
I’ve tied my heart to you
And now it’s undone
Now that you’re
Far gone…

I’m sitting here try’na play some waltz
The singing of the strings soothes me
Bubbles float over the top of the trees
From a child’s playful mouth
On a grey autumn day
In the urban park
In front of my house

I console my grieving heart
For six years it’s been chained to you
I say, “Look, Heart, it’s a river you know
That only flows one way
And she has lost herself along the way”
Heart says, “It seems to her
There’s no return!”

But somehow it feels like a relief
I’ve tied my heart to you
And now it’s undone
Now that you’re
Far gone
, gone, gone, gone…

But somehow it feels like a relief
I’ve tied my heart to you
And now it’s undone
Now that you’re
Far gone./.

Apr 18, 2020: I was just about to do a new recording for the song this week when I broke the bass string on my guitar! And because of the current lockdown I don’t know when I’ll be able to get a new set of strings. I probably will do a recording with the 5 string guitar, it’d be a little marker of the strange time we are living in… 🙂
